4 Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

“What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers, and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. … For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! In a world that is advancing to modern technology, ideas, beliefs, and “rights”, we are somehow losing the essence of learning about the Bible and really living out what it says. This blog is somewhat a “bible study” blog. Posts will be put up every time a word comes to my heart. It’s up to you in the end to accept it or to deny it. Feel free to disagree, as most people on the internet do nowadays, but check the motives of your heart before replying to anything; that between only you and God will understand why you did it.

Living to Please God 
I am impressed by the wisdom pressed by God on everybody’s hearts here. Indeed the real meaning of life is living it for Jesus. It reminded me of this old hymn that says,
Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.
Refrain:
O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne;
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.
Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.
Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy Name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,

this reminds me of an old Cherokee story i once heard:
n old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
So part of living life to the full would be discovering the best ways to feed the Spirit in your life, or let it guide and direct you to goodness and Godness.
Hi Brett! Thanks for sharing! The Cherokee story is really interesting! There are so many ways to perceive how we can live life to the fullest. One of my favorite people in the Bible, Paul, shares a testimony on how he perceives his life. I would love to type in the whole verse, but it’s not exactly short. If you’re really interested, and seeing as though you like stories, I encourage you to read Philippians 3:1-11. Paul says, “though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more!” Haha! I love that line. ‘If anyone has the reason to be confident in their OWN efforts, then I can assure you that I have even MORE the reason to be confident in my own efforts!’, Paul basically says. Following from that, this is kind of how I see living life to the full: Ecclesiastes 1 . I have a question for you, what is that one word that stands out in both those verses? 😉 They’re not written the same, but their meaning is 97% similar. Anyway, thanks again for sharing!
